It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Janice Lee Rody, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by family on September 9, 2026, at the age of 73. She was born in Bluffton, IN, to William R. and Betty (Fletcher) Slusher, but the family moved shortly and was raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Elmhurst HS in 1971. Janice married Mark T. Rody on Aug 12, 1971. Janice spent her life caring for others, working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the hospital industry, mostly at Parkview, Randallia. She was sweet, kind, gentle and loving, always thinking and caring for others before herself.

Janice was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation, Bristol IN. She loved all her family dearly and devoted herself to her grandchildren, and loved them endlessly, and never missed their events. Her main hobby was cross stitching and sewing, and she enjoyed raising flowers. She made countless articles of clothing for her grandchildren, and whenever anyone was in need of clothing being repaired it was always, give it to grandma, she can fix it.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Mark T. Rody; her children, Matthew (Norma) Rody, Lisa (Jonathan) Kirkton, and Dean Rody, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Lynne (Dennis) Ambriole, Bill (Janet) Slusher, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the heart of her family, and her love will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Betty Slusher, and a grandchild, Brendan Rody.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janice's life during the following events. There will be a visitation held at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN 46748, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm & 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 10:30 am with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, culminating with a meal afterwards at St. Jude. We will honor Janice's memory through stories, laughter, and the gentle love she spread throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Diabetes Association, honoring Janice's wish. She will be remembered not only for her dedication to her work but also for her kindness, compassion, and love for her family and friends.
