Jerry L. Poiry, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday September 30, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. He was born in Fort Wayne on May 7, 1942, the son of the late Richard and Ruth (Kintz) Poiry. Jerry graduated from Central Catholic HS with the Class of '60 and went on to serve his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Doris A. (Sarrazine) Poiry on June 16, 1962, and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2000, after 38 years of marriage. Jerry married Peggy (Krick) Poiry on July 8, 2006. Jerry was the co-owner of Image Exhibits and created displays and exhibits for trade shows across the country but was also proud to have created "Little Poof" at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish and was an accomplished woodworker, and he enjoyed fishing and the times he spent with his family & friends. Jerry is survived by Peggy Poiry, his wife of 17 years; daughter, Jennifer (Colby) Prough and son, Jared Poiry, both of Fort Wayne, son, Lee Hess of Woodburn and daughter, Angie (Andrew) Hoffman of Fort Wayne; his grandchildren, Audia, Sarrazine, Micah and Amos; brothers, Jack (Martha) Poiry of Urbana OH, James (Susie) Poiry of Fort Wayne, and his sister, Judy (George) Gradl of Louisville KY. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Thursday October 5, 2023 in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church. Visitation also on Wednesday October 4, 2023, from 4-8pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary recited at 4:00pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
