October 8, 1943 – March 23, 2025
Gerald R. Seifert, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday March 23, 2025 at Coventry Meadows. Jerry was born in Fort Wayne on October 8, 1943, the son of (the late) Thomas A. and Marvel (Smith) Seifert. He graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of '61 and went on to serve his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. On July 11, 1964, Jerry married Elaine (Winans) Seifert; Elaine survives along with their children; Richard (Deon) Seifert of Indianapolis, Michelle Seifert, David (DaVanna) Seifert and Troy Townsend, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Evan Seifert, Alex Seifert, Alyssa Seifert, Brendon Seifert, Isaiah Townsend and Elijah Townsend, and great-grandchild, Everlyn Townsend. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Sue (Otis) Croy of Joliet IL. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Seifert.
Jerry retired in 2008 as Senior Electronics Engineer for Raytheon Corp. after 43 years with the company. He was a member of St Henry Catholic Church and a fan of the Chicago Cubs. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 28, 2025, at St Henry Catholic Church, 2929 E. Paulding Rd. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation also from 5-8pm Thursday at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 4:30pm. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery. The family's preferred memorials are to Masses or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, online at stjude.org or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
