4:00 - 7:00 pm (Eastern time)
It is with heavy, yet grateful, hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Alan Snyder, who left us peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 64. Born in Indianapolis on February 28, 1962, to Elmo and Dorothy Snyder, Jerry’s vibrant spirit and warm smile made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
A fiercely devoted father, Jerry’s proudest legacy lives on in his three children: Garrett Thomas, Michael Elmo, and Mackenzie Ann. He loved his children unconditionally and cherished the time he spent with them. His heart had endless room to love—especially for his beloved "Sumo Kitty" and the great outdoors. Whether he was casting a line by the water or watching his favorite team on the court, Jerry embraced life with joyful enthusiasm.
His passion for sports began early. A treasured chapter of his youth was playing on the legendary Broadripple High School basketball team that secured the 1980 state championship. That competitive, team-player spirit never left him. Later, he became known as one of the biggest Purdue basketball fans around, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the Boilermakers. Jerry also spent many fulfilling years as a traveling sales representative, easily turning clients and colleagues into lifelong friends with his warm and magnetic personality.
Jerry leaves behind his loving wife, Betsy Ann (Wright) Snyder; their three beautiful children; his brother, Jim Snyder; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family, friends, and former teammates are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Divine Mercy Funeral Home—Cedar Canyons, located at 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN 46748. Guests are welcome to share stories, laughter, and love as we honor a truly wonderful man.
To honor Jerry’s lifelong affection for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Fort Wayne. Jerry may be gone from our sight, but his legacy of warmth, kindness, and joyful memories will live on in our hearts forever.
