Jesse E. Long, 65, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at Auburn Village Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. He was born on March 26, 1960, in Auburn, Indiana, to Jesse R. and Norma J. (Vaughn) Long. Jesse spent much of his life in the Auburn area, working at Nucor in Waterloo for many years. As a child, he enjoyed spending time with his many brothers and sisters. Jesse also lived in Orlando, Florida, for several years where he developed a love of the beach, ocean, and all things Jimmy Buffett. He had two rottweilers, Sasha and Jersey, who he adored and treated as his children. Jesse was a down to earth, friendly, and charismatic man who loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible. He had a knack for storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Surviving are his siblings, LuAnn Middaugh, of Auburn, Bonnie S Long, of Fort Wayne, Rex A Long, of Auburn, and Brenda Wilbur, of Three Rivers, Michigan; former spouse, Laura J Akers, of Cleveland, Tennessee; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Randy L Long, Stephen L Long, and Elizabeth 'Anna' Redriguez; and two unborn children, a daughter and a son.

Cremation will take place at Divine Mercy Crematory in Fort Wayne. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 2-6PM at the Middaugh Family home, located at 5432 County Road 29, Auburn. Pastor David Beard will be officiating. Please join the family for a brief service, followed by food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests bringing pictures and sharing stories or fond memories of Jesse at his celebration.
