Joan Lee Hand, a beloved schoolteacher, cherished mother, and amazing grandmother passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on January 9, 1954, in Rapid City, SD, Joan spent her life dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation. After earning her Master's Degree, she devoted herself to her passion for teaching, leaving a lasting impact on her students in Fort Wayne, IN, where she made her home.  As a strong believer and Christian, Joan is in the arms of Jesus, being rewarded and celebrated for her blessed life on earth.

Joan is survived by her two sons, David, and Adam, who will forever cherish their memories of her love, guidance, and warmth.  Her Daughter-in-laws Heather Hand and Ashley Hand survive along with her cherished grandchildren Jacia Claxton, Alexander Robert Hand, Calan Hand, Aydan Hand, and Asher Hand. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Nancy (Skipper) Wigger.  Joan was a middle child, survived by her sister, Judy Eberhart and brother, Robert Wigger.

Private services will be held at the Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN, where arrangements were made.
