Joan Barbara Swihart, Fort Wayne IN, passed away November 29, 2023, she was 87.

She was born July 16, 1936, in Chicago, to John and Theresa (Altman) Hensler. She was the youngest of eight children, William, Susan, Bob, John, Mary, Don and Frank.

Growing up in Fort Wayne, she had many fond memories of playing at Foster Park.

She graduated from Central Catholic High School and was a member of St Jude Catholic Church.

A compassionate and devoted Mother, she is survived by her children, Andy (Diane), Bill (Barbara), Karen (Kevin) Evans, and Steve. Grandchildren, James, Emily, Daniel, Jon, Hannah and Tom. Great grandchildren, Lina, Jamie, Elliot, Oliver, Sam and Arthur.

She managed the Coney King restaurant on South Clinton St, and yes, we have the chili recipe. She retired from the Indiana State Highway Department as an administrative assistant.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Dr., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior to the service.
