John Anthony Gigli, age 70, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Born on December 7, 1953, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Quinn) Gigli. John was a life-long resident of Fort Wayne and graduated from Bishop Luers High School in 1972 and from Butler University in 1976. He married his high school sweetheart, Cathi (Rehm), in August 1974. Together, they spent the next 49 years building a life in Fort Wayne and watching their family grow. John was the owner of Summit Transportation Insurance for over 30 years. When not working, he enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball, playing golf regularly, and playing cards with friends. He was also a fan of football, which he coached for CYO for many years. Most importantly, John loved his children and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. Faith was also important to him, and he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. John's absence in the lives of his family and friends will be felt deeply. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cathi Gigli; sons, Johnny (Theresa) Gigli, Justin Gigli, Jordan (Samantha) Gigli, and Jared (Erin) Gigly; grandchildren, Jack, June, and James Gigli; sisters, Waneta (Jay) Allgeier, Kate Gigli, and Gina Lee; brother, James (Erin) Gigli; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Mike Gigli; and sister, Yolanda Foster. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46807 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. Memorials can be written to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and/or School, Fort Wayne in John's name.
