John I. Heim, Jr., 91, of Fort Wayne, died June 28, 2026. He was born in North Liberty, IN on August 27, 1934, the son of the late John I. and Georgie (Woolfan) Heim. John served his country proudly in the US Air Force, and on July 6, 1957, he married Ilse (Jung) Heim in St. Paul Catholic Church in Offenbach am Main, Germany. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2025, after 67 years of marriage. John was also preceded by his son, John I. Heim III, and his brothers, Richard and Michael Heim. He is survived by his granddaughter, Leslie D. (Benjamin Michael) Heim of Kendallville and several nieces & nephews.

John was the Senior Civil Engineer for J.R. Trueman & Associates, Inc., retiring in 1999 after 25 years with the company. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 47 and the Fort Wayne Maennerchor/Damenchor.

The Funeral Mass is 11:00am Friday July 10, 2026, in Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 St. Joe Road, with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation also on Thursday July 9, from 5-7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 4:30pm.
