John F. Kiel, 95, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday January 4, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. John was born in Fort Wayne on October 11, 1929, the son of the late Harold C. and Mary A. (Linder) Kiel; and he graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of '48. John served his country with honor in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and on July 11, 1951, John married Arlene (Haggenjos) Kiel, who survives along with their children; Mike (Ruth) Kiel, Deb Moran, Pam (Dave) McDaniel, Pat (Patty) Kiel, Bob Kiel, all of Fort Wayne, and Jan Rahill of Orlando FL; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Norfleet of Hudson FL and Rosie Battershell of Fort Wayne.
In addition to his parents, John was also preceded by a sister, Arlene Kinder; brothers-in-law, Clarence Kinder, Wayne Norfleet and Vance "Eppie" Battershell, and a son-in law, Mike Rahill.
John was a truck mechanic most of his life, finally retiring from Penske in October 1993. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Parish and the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and John was one of the original Fort Wayne Rivergreenway Trails Rangers.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday January 10, 2025, in Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 Saint Joe Rd. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8pm Thursday at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 2:30pm.
