“Mike” Donovan
January 8, 1959 – August 11, 2024
John Michael "Mike" Donovan, 65, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Fort Wayne. He loved his family, friends and co-workers, Bishop Dwenger, Purdue University, Butler basketball and a round of golf anywhere, anytime. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mike graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in 1977 and earned his bachelor's degree from Purdue. He worked briefly in the hospitality industry before returning to Fort Wayne to contribute to the family business, Donovan Engineering, and start his career in real estate working over 35 years as part of the Mike Thomas Associates team in Fort Wayne. Mike wouldn't miss a family gathering around the holidays, was a constant at Purdue home football games and the Indianapolis 500 for 40+ years, was always willing to share his favorite pick to win the Derby, and was a regular at many of the golf courses in and around Fort Wayne. Above all, Mike was a loyal son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend.
Surviving are his sister, Mary Kay Donovan of Fort Wayne, and brother Rick (Sabrina) Donovan of Westfield, Indiana; nieces Alixandria (Steven) Pelych and Madelyn (Brady) O'Cull; nephew Campbell Donovan; great niece Gracelyn Pelych; great nephews Griffin Pelych and Roman O'Cull; extended family and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his father John R. "Jack" Donovan, mother Mary Helen Donovan, sister Margaret A. Donovan, sister Jeanette Donovan, and great niece Donovan Rose O'Cull.
Visitation will be held Sunday August 18, 2024 from 1 to 5pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN. Graveside service will be 9:30am, Monday August 19, 2024 at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne,IN.
