John Roman Torrez, 82, of Turkey Lake, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

He was born in Bluffton to the late Pablo and Natalia (Roman) Torrez.

John was a 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He then went on to further his education at Tri-State University.

On May 28, 1962, in Coldwater, Michigan, He married the love of his life, Beverly (Penny).

John began his professional career at Summit City Enterprises and worked there for 20 years. Upon retiring, John and Beverly(Penny) purchased Turkey Lake Restaurant and Tavern in Elmira on March 16, 1984 and together owned and operated the restaurant until August 13, 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Penny); children, Brenda (Luis) Morales and John Thomas (Carol) Torrez; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Natividad Martinez.

Also preceding him in death were siblings, Jose, Miquel, Charlie, Paul, Pete, Felice Carrillo, Frances Vasquez, and Margaret Perez.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with calling from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
