Joseph H. Leiter, 93, of Fort Wayne died April 7, 2018 at Hamilton Place Assisted Living, Fort Wayne, IN. Joseph was born March 19, 1925 in Huntertown, IN, to the late Jacob and Grace Leiter. He served in the U S Navy During WW II, and retired from Rae Magnet Wire after 30 years. He enjoyed golf, I U Basketball and bowling. Joseph is survived by his son, Michael J. (Karen) Leiter of Palm Bay, Fl.; daughter, Julia A.(David) Rietdorf of Zanesville, IN; step-sons, Fred (Becky) Merz, Ed (Sue) Merz, David (Gaye) Merz all of Fort Wayne, IN and John Merz of San Diego, CA; step-daughters, Laura ( Joe) Mundyof Springfield OH., Barb (Frank) McGowan of Blythe, GA, Marcia (Tim) Indrec of Colorado Springs, CO and Kathy (Todd) Spade of Fort Wayne, IN; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joseph was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores Federspiel Leiter, second wife Mary Jane Merz Leiter, step-daughters, Janet Watson and Becky Merz, sister, Ann Leiter and brother, Robert Leiter. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Friday April 13, 2018 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old US Hwy 27 South with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5 pm and 7 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Saint John Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or the Allen County SPCA.
