Obituary

Juergen Eric Nevogt went to his eternal resting place on October 3rd, after a brave battle with esophageal cancer.
Eric was born to Juergen J. and Virginia R. (McClafferty) Nevogt on April 26, 1952,  in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
His family moved to Fort Wayne in 1960. Growing up in the Lutheran faith, Eric attended Sunday school at Grace Lutheran Church. In his formative years, Eric attended Francis Slocum Elementary, Lakeside Middle School, and finally Northside High School, from where he graduated in 1970. While growing up, Eric assisted his dad with the family HVAC business, and continued doing so until he was drafted into the Army in 1972, when he proudly served his country. The same day he went in for his physical, he was loaded onto a bus that took him to Clarksville, Tennessee. Eric was assigned the position of mail clerk, and once joked, that he had a higher security clearance than his commanding officer.
Eric had a love of boats, cars, and flying. He held many fond memories of fishing on his dad's boat up in Lake Michigan and later taking the same boat with his daughters, up to Lake Wawasee. One of his first and favorite cars, was his red 1964 GTO, with a white convertible soft top. In the 1980's, Eric was a member of the Back 40 Flying Club, where he would often take flight to get away, and enjoy the view.
During his working career, Eric worked at many different HVAC companies, mostly in management and sales. His longest tenure, which completed his many years in the HVAC industry, was held at Walmer Supply, for over 20 years. After retiring, Eric worked part time for the Allen County Memorial Coliseum as a parking attendant. He said it was the "perfect job." He really loved seeing all of the different cars come through his booth, and being able to talk about the cars with their owners.
"Eric was the most caring and loving man. He had a heart of gold, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed him, as he never knew a stranger. Even if it meant getting up on a cold, snowy night at 2:00 am, to fix someone's furnace, he was there to get the job done. Eric had a great personality, always displaying a fun sense of humor, and a witty demeanor. He was also a wonderful father and grandfather (Apple), and was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren.  He will be forever and deeply missed."

Eric leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Robin Topp-Nevogt and her two children, Joshua (Terri) Topp of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Samantha (Ivan) Wyant of Clermont, Florida, to whom he was a loving, and caring bonus dad.

Also surviving are his first wife,
Jan (Steve) Hess, of Fort Wayne, the mother of his two daughters, Lori Philbee and Beth (Jesse) Marshall.  And Cindy (Vincent) Trischler, of Fort Wayne, the mother of his son, Cory (Nicole) Trischler.

His cherished grandchildren include:
Alaina (Alex) Duran, Ashlynn (Zane) Mullins, Reed Philbee, Joey Billman, Jack and Alex Marshall, Allison and Charlotte Trischler, Leonardo, Theodore, and Sophia Wyant, Addison and Olive Topp.  And four great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Crue Mullins, Leondro and Carson Duran. "Eric truly loved all of his grandchildren, and even though he may not have seen them often, they always held a special place in his heart."
Eric is also survived by his beloved Mother, Virginia R. Nevogt, cherished brother and sister in law, Glen (Cathy) Nevogt, and treasured sister and brother in law, Ruth (Jack) Teeple. His wonderful mother in law Patricia Lichtsinn, and close brother in laws James (Jennifer) and Rodney (Allie Hacha) Lichtsinn. Many nieces and nephews to whom he was know as " Uncle Orange", and his life long friends, Army buddy, Ted (Myrna) Schaffer, and Sandy (Gerri) Werri. And friends and special neighbors Jeff and Jodi Deiser, Kyle and Sarah Kerley, and Tommy Bougher.
Preceding him in death were his Father Juergen R. Nevogt and a grandson, Harrison L. Topp.
