Obituary

Katie Didier Rogers went home to the Lord peacefully on February 23, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving wife, Pam; her mom and dad; her sister; and her two brothers.

Katie was the youngest of the family. She was a delightful person-easy to talk to and totally accepting of others. She was charming and could talk your leg off. Katie had a major stroke when she was born and lived her entire life with cerebral palsy. But Katie never allowed that to define who she was as a person. She lived life with a determination and conviction that defied the odds. She tried everything-she was fearless. She succeeded in doing many things that no one thought she ever could or would. The doctor who performed her first brain scan said she would never walk and never talk. When she was 16 months old, she pulled herself up to the couch with only one arm and walked the length of the couch. When she was five, she was the first in her class to be able to tie her shoes-one handed! She learned to drive and was a no-accident/no-ticket driver. She learned to type one handed. She applied for a job that required 35 words per minute. They made no exceptions for one-handed typists. Katie promptly typed 36 words and got the job. She was smart and determined. She researched everything about her condition and was well-read on all phases of her cerebral palsy and other conditions that she had. She was the resident "techy" in our family. She knew her way around all the latest technology. One of her proudest accomplishments was developing videos of her dad's music and posting them on YouTube. She retired from her job at Yara in 2021 due to deteriorating health conditions. They still miss her work ethic. She moved to San Diego at the tender age of 20. She lived in Indianapolis for a time. She and Pam married in 2016 and finally moved to Tampa to be in the sun and the warm temperatures. Katie lived a very full life, but it was not without its trials. She suffered most of her life with chronic digestive and intestinal issues along with severe nerve pain.

The neurosurgeon at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville said that Katie was a medical miracle. The doctor looked at her brain scan, then looked at Katie, and said that Katie had indeed defied the odds. All of us who knew Katie knew that too. Most importantly she was a person of warmth and tenderness. She loved deeply and was committed to Team Pam, her family, and her friends. She will always be remembered as the "can do" girl. We know that she is cheering us all on from her place in the heavenly kingdom. What a blessing to have had her in our lives for 46 years. Rest in peace, sweet girl!

Katie is survived by her wife, Pam Rogers; her mom and dad, Shari and Jim Didier; sister, Darcy (Tony) Quinn; brothers, Dave Didier, Tony (Vienne) Didier; and her nieces and nephews, Colin, Maddie, Ana, and Aaron Quinn, Faith, Evan, Emilie and Connor Didier.
