Kathleen Louise Magsam, age 81, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born on December 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Schenkel) Krouse. Kathleen was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of '60. On January 27, 1962, she married the love of her life, Kenneth "Kenny" Magsam. Together, they spent the next 62 years building a life in Fort Wayne and watching their family grow. At age 50, Kathleen earned her nursing degree and worked at several nursing homes as an LPN until her retirement. When not working, she enjoyed camping, gardening, tending to her flowers, taking hikes and walks, and traveling with her husband. She especially loved to play euchre with her family and friends. Faith was important to Kathleen, and she was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Magsam; sons, Jeff (Deborah), Peter, John (Debbie), and Joseph (Stephanie) Magsam; daughters, Joann (Roger) Turnwald, Marlene (Todd) Waikel, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Hull; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge Meinerding, Carol Alfeld, Theresa (Stanley) Wyss, and Diane (Sam) Beck; brothers, Bill (Rosemary), John, Steve (Margaret), and Joe (Karen) Krouse; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob, Jim, Donald, and Dick Krouse; brother-in-law, Ray Meinerding; and sister-in-law, Nancy Krouse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne (46825) with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne (46805) with a rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be written for Mass Intentions at St. Vincent de Paul.
