Kathryn A. Bloom, 95, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully March 27, 2025 at St. Anne Home & Retirement Community. Kathryn was born August 22, 1929 in Sturgis, MI to the late Marguerite (Rowe) and J.T. Bowen. She married Clarence Nicholas Bloom September 8, 1951 in Lagrange, IN, he died May 19, 2005. Kathryn graduated from Lagrange High School in 1947 and Lutheran School of Nursing in 1950. She was a RN at Parkview Hospital for 23 years and retired in 1984. Katie, as she was known by, had been a member of Settlers, Inc. and Hearthstone Ensemble for over 25 years. She was past President of the Allen County Genealogical Society and Co-Chair of the History Book Project. Katie served on the Board of the History Center and on the Alumni Council at University of St. Francis representing Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 45 years and served in many offices including 2 terms as Regent. Katie served as Registrar for Indiana DAR 1990-1994. She had been President of the Parkview Ambassadors, an organization for Parkview Retirees, and published the quarterly newsletter. Katie was a Girl Scout leader and member of Limberlost Girl Scout Council for 25 years. She is survived by her children, Karen Bloom, Janet (Gary) Baltzell, Linda (Gus) Burrell, Robert (Mary) Bloom, Martha (Andrew) Conkling, daughter-in-law Deb Bloom, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Nick and sons James and Jeffrey. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also 3 to 7pm Monday at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, with Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution service at 4pm. Memorials may be made in Katie's name to Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter of DAR, Settlers Inc. or Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society. Entombment will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
