Obituary

Kathryn (Kay) Romeo- Pagliaro passed to eternal life on 6/10/2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Kay was born on May 3rd, 1931, in Shinnston, West Virginia. The daughter of Catherine Lombardi Romeo and Joe Romeo. Kay grew up surrounded by the love of three sisters and seven brothers. As the Romeo family grew, Kay was blessed with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and beautiful nieces and nephews. On Oct 23rd, 1954, she married the love of her life, John Pagliaro and gained three brothers and one sister. The Pagliaro family added three sisters-in-law, one brother -in -law and more nieces and nephews. Kay lived a long, full life marked by kindness, generosity and a deep commitment to her family. A devoted and loving wife, the marriage to her husband John was a beautiful testament to love and partnership. Kay was a steadfast mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grace and talent allowed her to take on the roles of caregiver, nurturer, educator, secretary, and trusted neighbor and friend. Rooted in her faith, she inspired those around her with her unwavering dedication to the Lord and the Catholic Church. Kay's culinary skills were legendary, and her home cooked meals brought joy and comfort to countless individuals for decades. Kay opened her home and heart to those in her life, happily assuming the role of mother and nana to more than just her immediate family. Kay's legacy of grit and fierce love will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her. Kay bravely battled dementia for the last remaining years of her life. Throughout her illness, her husband and children provided an extraordinary level of care and remained by her side until the end. Although this disease took its toll, the struggle it caused could never diminish their commitment to faith, hope, love and most of all patience. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 69 years John, daughters Cathy (Jim) McFadden and Carrie (Chuck) Owen), son John Pagliaro, 4 grandchildren, Andrea (Jon) Munsch, James (Marie) McFadden, Gregrory Owen, and John (Emily McFadden), 4 great grandchildren, Lydia and Gwen Munsch, O'Shea McFadden, and Gabriel McFadden. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday June 15, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. Ft. Wayne, IN, with visitation 1 hour prior in the gathering space of the church. A brief gravesite service will be held for immediate family members only at Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Wayne. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. for all who are able to attend at Ziano's Italian Restaurant, 10502 Maysville Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Service Bureau of the YMCA. These funds will be allocated to be used to support at-risk youth in our community. Donations will be accepted at the church or checks may be mailed to the Youth Service Bureau, 3701 S. Calhoun St., Ft. Wayne IN, 46807.
