Kay Francis (Fording) Schreiner , age 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, at 6:22 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Kay was born on August 17, 1940, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Goldie Belle Fitzgearld. She was a 1957 graduate of Brookston High School.

She was united in marriage to Wernert B. Fording, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1986. She later married Fredrick Schreiner, who also preceded her in death on July 8, 2008.

Kay is survived by her four children Jerry B. Fording, Melvin D. Fording, Marvin L. Fording (Cassondra) and Aleshia K. Day.

She is also survived by her sister, Shelba Reynolds of Monticello, IN; several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will deeply miss her presence.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hobart D. Larimer and Doyne D. Larimer.

Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She found joy in caring for others and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial following the service at Prairie Grove Cemetery , Fort Wayne, IN.
