Kenneth "Kenny" A. Messmann, age 86, of New Haven, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Born in Fort Wayne, IN on February 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Elwood and Luetta (Goeglein) Messmann. On September 7, 1957, Kenny married the love of his life, Marilyn (DeSuza). Together they spent the next 67 years building a life and watching their family grow. Kenny worked at International Harvester for over 23 years, D.O. McComb & Sons for 18 years, and was also the owner of Ken Seal Asphalt for 26 years. When not working, he enjoyed watching IU sports, woodworking, and the lake life at Lake James. Family always came first for Kenny, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn Messmann; daughters, Rhonda (Douglas) Acosta and Lisa (Dan) Kimmel; son-in law, Bill (Lesa) Meadows; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlene Vondran. Kenny was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Meadows; granddaughter, April Rose Acosta; his parents; and brother-in-law, Edgar Vondran.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green Street, New Haven, IN 46774 with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will also be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the church. Burial will follow the service at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven. Memorials can be written to Emanuel Lutheran Church or Lake James Lutheran Chapel in Kenny's name.
