Obituary

Kinnaird Kniss, 84, of Avilla died in his home on Tuesday August 5th 2025. Kinnaird was born to George and CleOra Kniss in Fort Wayne on February 16th 1941. He graduated from Northside high school with the class of 1959 and continued his education at General Electric Apprentice School. He went on to work at General Electric as a tool and die maker for many years.

On the beautiful day of May 12th 1973 Kinnaird married Mary Grone at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Together they created a loving home where they raised their four children. Kinnaird is survived by his wife Mary; son Patrick; daughters Sarah, Betsy (Jim Rauch), and Leann (Aaron Wheeler); and grandchildren Hannah & Caleb Rauch, and Sophia & Alivia Wheeler.  In his free time, Kinnaird enjoyed woodworking, golfing, driving his Model A, playing cards, and spending time on the lake with family.

Services for Kinnaird will take place at 11:30 am Monday, August 11, 2025, with a Mass at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 232 Main St., Avilla, IN,46710. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the Mass. A time of visitation will be held from 2-5:00 pm Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN 46748. There will be a rosary prayed at 1:30 pm, prior to the visitation. Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Avilla.
