Larry D. Mallett, age 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 23, 2026, in his home after an extended illness. He was a graduate of Northside High School and served in the United States Navy. He was employed by PHD as a purchasing manager, retiring in 1997 with thirty-two years of service. He came out of retirement to work at St. Francis College and generally kept busy with various other projects. Larry enjoyed working on classic cars both restoring and collecting, spending time at his lake cottages, and attending his grandchildren's various activities.
Larry D. Mallett was born on June 8, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Lewis Homer and Mary (Hupp) Mallett. He married Erica Schuelzky on June 18, 1983, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2025.
Survivors include his children, Lori (Kevin) Russell and Michael Mallett; his stepchildren, Carrie (Adam) Nichter and Jason (Jill) Long; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded by his parents, and one sister, Sandra Blair.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.
Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in Divine Mercy Funeral Home, with his son-in-law, Kevin Russell, officiating.
Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
