Obituary

Larry Wayne Werling, age 85, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born March 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Norbert and Hazel (Ladig) Werling. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed being a mail carrier for the US Postal Service after working at International Harvester and opening up his own t-shirt shop, The Shirt Hut, many years ago.

When not working, Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and dogs, playing a round of golf with friends, and spending summers at Hamilton Lake. He was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris (Jane) Werling of Arlington Heights, IL; grandchildren, Grace, Ben, and Jack Werling; brother Terry Werling; nieces and nephews; and dear friends. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Werling; his parents; and brother, Don Werling.

A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Parkinson’s Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
