Lawrence Henry “Hank” Lauer, 93, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday July 7, 2026. He was born in Pennsylvania on May 24, 1933, the son of the late Albert Vincent Lauer Sr. and Catherine Marie (Carroll) Lauer. Hank graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of ’52 and then served his country proudly in the US Army. On October 10, 1953, he married Marjorie Ann “Marge” (Mudrack) Lauer, who preceded him in death on September 8, 2011 after 57 years of marriage. Hank was also preceded by brothers, Albert Vincent Lauer Jr. and Charles Albert Lauer.
Survivors include his sons, Mike (Mary Beth) Lauer, Greg (Kris) Lauer, and Daniel (Marla) Lauer, all in Fort Wayne, Larry (Denise) Lauer of Westville, Illinois and Mark (Lori) Lauer of Fremont; brother, Joseph Edward “Ed” Lauer of Fort Wayne; sister, Catherine A. Roth of Huntertown; grandchildren, Angie (Nick), Jeff, Brandon (Maria) Ben (Sydney), Adam (Heather), Chrissy (Edwin), Andy (Tanya), Malcolm, Ryan (Ashley), Missy (Terrell), Sam (Brian), Nic (Jenny), Jessie (Nick), Zac (Gina) and Abbey, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Hank worked for Fruehauf Trailer Co. (welder) , ITT (Draftsman, RCA Manufacturing (Design Engineer), Magnavox (Reproductive Center Printers) and Raytheon/Hughes (Configuration Manager). He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Management Club at Magnavox and enjoyed socializing and an occasional beer at the American Legion Post 47. He enjoyed watching sports with his kids and especially loved watching his grandchildren play ball. Hank also enjoyed woodworking and occasionally trying his luck at one of the casinos. Most of all he enjoyed helping his sons with projects around their houses.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday July 20, 2026 in St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church. Visitation is also on Sunday the 19th, from 3-7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 2:30pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery with military honors. The family’s preferred memorials are St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or the American Legion Post 47.
