Lillian C. Krider, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in the Hospice in Place Program. Lillian was born in Wells County on September 14, 1939, to the late John and Leita (Smith) Osborn. She graduated from East Union Center High School in 1957 and was the Valedictorian of her class. After graduation she was accepted into Parkview Methodist School of Nursing and was awarded a scholarship for her tuition. She graduated in 1960 and worked as a Registered Nurse for 2 years at Caylor Nickel Clinic in Bluffton, Indiana.
On February 15, 1961, she married Robert L. Krider, who proceeded her in death on November 10, 2009, after 48 years of marriage. After leaving the Caylor Nickel Clinic, Lillian worked at the American Red Cross in Fort Wayne for 5 years. In 1968, Lillian began her 37 ½ year nursing career at Parkview Hospital. Lillian worked on a surgical unit at Parkview Hospital and eventually became a supervisor on one of the surgical units. During her last 25 years at Parkview, she was a Certified Infection Control Specialist. In 1985, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree at IPFW. Lillian was a member of the White Cross Auxiliary of Parkview Hospital and a member of Signa Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Teresa R. (David) Hess of Avilla, IN; grandchildren: Justin (Lindsay) Purdy of Fort Wayne, IN; Jason (Alicia) Purdy of Auburn, IN; John (Lindsey) Purdy of Indianapolis, IN; Taylor (Gabe) Vogelsong of Fort Wayne, IN; and Kendell (Victoria) Belk of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren: Norah Purdy, Jackson Purdy, Harper Purdy, Oliver Purdy, Sawyer Purdy, Ophelia Vogelsong, Wally Purdy, Huck Purdy, and Calvin Purdy. Lillian is also survived by her sisters, Rose Williams of Bluffton, IN; and Glenna (Kent) Raber of Fort Wayne, IN. In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was proceeded in death by her son, Kenneth Scott Krider; brothers Bernard, Estel, Herman, and Frank Osborn; and sister, Ellen Armstrong. Lillian enjoyed playing cards, playing solitaire on her iPad, reading, and watching IU Men's basketball games.
Service is at 1 p.m. on May 21, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 1986 W. Cedar Canyon Road, Huntertown, IN with a Nursing Honor Guard Presentation 15 minutes prior to the service. Pastor Alex Duff officiating. Calling from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 20, 2025, at the funeral home. Lillian will be laid to rest next to her husband at Highland Park Cemetery.
