Louis W.
Dormans
May 7, 1937 – February 4, 2025
Louis W. Dormans, 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on February 4th, 2025. Born on May 7th, 1937 in Voerendaal, Netherlands. The youngest of eight children. He was a devoted husband to Catharina "Kitty" Dormans and loving father to Cindy and Randy Dormans.
Louis was hardworking, creative, and always full of ingenuity. He immigrated to the United States with his sister Antoinette and the help of their bother Paul in the early 60's to build a better life in America. Working in construction as a laborer and bricklayer, he established a life in Fort Wayne and Catharina joined him from the Netherlands a short time later. They were married in Fort Wayne on April 16th, 1966. Louis eventually found employment at International Harvester and applied to become a machinist. A vocation that suited his hard work ethic, creativity and ingenuity very well. In 1977 Louis and Kitty moved to a farm in Larwill, Indiana. Moving to the country was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream and Lou loved being out in the woods, planting trees, cutting firewood and generally being outdoors. Throughout his life he had always exhibited a talent for drawing, painting and sculpting, particularly wood carving and this remained an activity he pursued throughout his entire life. In retirement, Louis developed an interest in the stock market and kept himself busy studying, reading and investing in it.
Forever a hardworking and selfless man. He enjoyed time with family and friends as well as having a good laugh and a hot cup of coffee.
He is survived by his wife Catharina, sister Josephina, son Randy, daughter in law Jessica, and grandchildren Grace, Lily and Theo. We find comfort in knowing that Lou's legacy lives on through the examples he set for us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
