Madonna
Wiegmann
March 6, 1930 – February 18, 2025
It is with great sadness and faith in Christ that we announce the passing of Madonna R. Wiegmann, formerly of Ft. Wayne, who went to her eternal rest on February 18, 2025, at the home of her son. She was born on March 6, 1930, to George and Violet Gillardo. On September 18, 1948, she married Helmut Wiegmann, with whom she lived a life full of taking care of her family. Together, Madonna and Helmut were blessed with six children, though she mourned the loss of their youngest son, George, in 2019.
Madonna devoted her life to being a loving homemaker and caregiver. She lovingly cared for her mother until her passing in 2001, always putting her family first. Her deep faith and selflessness were evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her three sons, Daniel (Janelle) of Huntertown, Ricky (Elaine) of Huntington, and Terry (Pamela) of Ft. Wayne; her daughters, Shirley Janes (Corky) of Hicksville, OH, and Sandra Babbit (Steve) of Ft. Wayne. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren (one of which is a great-great-grandson due in May).
She was preceded in death by her parents, George (Joe) and Violet Gillardo; her husband, Helmut; her son, George; and her grandson, Chris Janes.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 22 at 11:00 am at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, located at 1500 West State Boulevard, with Rev. Spenser St. Louis presiding. Calling will be held On Thursday, February 21, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home. Burial services will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery, New Haven, IN.
