Marcia
Giraldo
August 11, 1945 – March 1, 2026
Marcia Beckman Giraldo, 80 years old, a loving wife, mother and devoted educator, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 1, 2026 in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, following a stroke.
In her life, Marcia demonstrated academic excellence, graduating valedictorian of Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne. She studied education and became a teacher, with degrees from Mount Mary College and Ball State University. Marcia was adventurous in her youth, studying abroad in Denmark, and working as an English teacher in Colombia, where she met a Spanish teacher with a long, unique name, Tertuliano. The two were married the following year and were together for 52 years. Marcia also taught at Meadowbrook Elementary, and enjoyed volunteer work as an English as a second language teacher, and with the Daughters of the American Revolution. A devout Catholic, Marcia was also an avid gardener, dedicated walker, and expert banana bread baker, who delighted friends and family with her warmth and hospitality.
She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Lucille Beckman, husband Terry Giraldo, and is survived by cousins Diane Archer and Greta Speakman, extended in-law family in Colombia, her children, Mauricio Giraldo and Lucy Giraldo, and grandson Blaze Rocco Giraldo.
