Obituary

Mary Ann Morel passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on April 12th. Her family remarked that Mary Ann simply couldn't wait to reunite with her husband of nearly 71 years, who passed away just a few short months ago on February 7th. Despite the love and support she received from her family and how much she adored them, her love for Tom was strong and a love that couldn't be kept apart for long.

She is lovingly remembered by three daughters, Diane Geeting (Brian), Jenny Morel, Christina Foreman (Jim), and two sons, Steve Morel (Danee), and Matt Morel, as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. After raising her five children, Mary Ann had a devoted professional career working at St. Joseph's Catholic School for close to twenty years. She was beloved there by many and is still remembered.

Mary Ann, Nana, is described by her family as fiercely loyal and loving, witty, a wonderful listener, a prayer warrior, and a phenomenal cook. She was full of life, and she turned every mundane moment for her kids and grandkids into something special. Whether it was waiting for them on the front porch after school with freshly baked cookies, a "pick-me-up" meal of chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes, or a glass of peach lemonade on a hot summer day - she was always prepared. She was known for her love of chocolate and often kept a "secret stash" hidden above the fridge. (Which her kids all knew about and ravaged frequently)

Mary Ann loved many things in the world - music, cooking, gardening, her children and grandchildren, however, there was hardly anything that she loved more than her Tom! Until the very end, Mary Ann was steadfast in her love for her husband and anxiously awaited their reunion. From once meeting as strangers in the "Tunnel of Love," to over 70 years of marriage, Mary Ann and Tom's marriage was, and is, the truest form of "true love" that their family has ever seen. The family finds joy and peace in knowing that they're spending eternity together.

The one and only thing that Mary Ann loved more than her husband and kids (and chocolate) was the Lord. She was a steadfast woman of faith that covered her family in prayers daily. Her devotion to Jesus was exemplary and evident in her day-to-day life. She has left a profound legacy of what it means to be a true, devoted, follower of Jesus and how prayer can change everything.

We can only imagine what Tom and Mary Ann's reunion in Heaven looked like - all we know is that their love continues...
