We are heartbroken to announce that Mary L. Davis, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at Grey Stone Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on December 2, 2024, at the age of 80. Mary was born on September 21, 1944, in Celina, Ohio, daughter to the late Lucille and Charles Protsman. She is survived by her loving husband, John Davis.
John and Mary fell in love in 1982 and married June 11th, 1994. They spent 42 wonderful years together. As a homemaker, Mary loved painting and crafts, gardening, camping with John, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She held a deep appreciation for fresh brewed black coffee, cookies, and birds. She will be remembered for her unending generosity, her hospitality, and the ways she cared for her friends, family, and neighbors. She rarely sat still, always tending to those around her.
Surviving are her children Sheryl Imbody, Christina (Doug) Sorg, and stepchildren Tamara (Obie) Higgenbottom, Michelle (Jeff) Barton, and Shannon Ball, her brother Bill (Judie) Protsman and sister Diane Doak. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary's funeral services will be held on December 7, 2024. Friends and family are invited to a public visitation at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, starting at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, with a graveside service taking place at 12:45 PM at the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
In this difficult time, we find comfort in the love and memories we shared with Mary. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in all of us.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Protsman and Lucille Protsman, her siblings: Bob Protsman, Ralph Protsman, John Protsman, and Dan Protsman, stepson: Darren (Joni) Davis, son in law: Jason Ball, and grandson: Bronson Ball.
