Mary Elizabeth Heinen, age 59, of Fort Wayne, passed away on September 24, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She had been employed by Fort Sill military base working supply for many years, Fort Wayne Community Schools as a Special Needs Assistant and later worked for St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store as a librarian. She was a 2013 graduate of Brown Mackey College. Mary enjoyed crafting such as painting and needlepoint, cooking and especially loved being around family.

Mary Elizaberth Heinen was born on November 25, 1966, at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, the daughter of Nicklus Joseph and Ruth Ann (Kurtz) Heinen.

Survivors include one daughter, Nickol (and fiancée, Cole Hieber) Huggins, and soon to arrive grandson, Wesley Hieber, of Fort Wayne, one son, Christopher Russell, of Fort Wayne, her mother, Ruth Brassell, of Fort Wayne, one sister, Rita Christine (David) Zidel, of Chicago; and three brothers, James Heinen, of Gore, Oklahoma, Michael (Robin) Heinen, of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Christopher (Shellie) Heinen, of Peyton, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father, Nicklus Heinen.

Grave side services and interment will take place at Resurrection Chapel in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkview Home Health and Hospice Care.
