Matthew Sciole passed away peacefully at Parkview Randalia on March 19, 2019. Having lived for 90 years, he had a full, healthy life. Matthew was known as a Renaissance Man. He knew just about everything there is to know about any subject and had a deep passion for art, music, history, antiques, and everything in between. He also loved telling jokes to everyone that crossed his path! More importantly, he was an outstanding grandfather.

When he was young, Matt was a 1st generation in the US after his parents moved to New York from Italy and taught himself English in grade school. This transformed into a love for learning where he later graduated from MIT. Matt then became a young first lieutenant who was stationed at Wright Field at the air research and development command. He and his wife, Adlyn moved to Fort Wayne in 1972 where Matt served in various plant managerial positions for many years. He worked at Essex, Morton powder coatings and Sun Metals. He won the Richard Lugar productivity award from Morton. He was also part of a team working to develop the maintenance free battery at Prestolite in Toledo Ohio. Matt loved his work and preached that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. He retired at age 66 and spent his time continuously learning, focusing on his passions, and home improvement projects.

He was preceded in death by his wife Adlyn, his parents John and Julia (Di Pietro) Sciole and his 2 sisters, Lucy and Mary.

Surviving are his sons, John (Jill) and Joe (Maria) Sciole of Fort Wayne, his granddaughters, Theresa and Julia Sciole, and grandson, Nick Sciole.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd. Ft. Wayne with calling one hour prior. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to PBS 39 or Habitat for Humanity Restore.
