Obituary

Maxine C. Rorick passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She was born on October 5,1934 in Monroeville, Indiana to the late Leonard and Eva (Dodane) Mourey. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951 and received her Nursing Degree from Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.In August of 1954 she married Howard Rorick, who preceded her in death in 2009. She worked as a registered nurse at Saint Joe Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She was active in Pro Life ministry as a member of Nurses Concerned for Life. She and her husband Howard volunteered many years at the Byran Health Center. She loved her Catholic faith, attended daily Mass and spent innumerable hours in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in St. Jude's Perpetual Adoration chapel.

​She is survived by her sons: Phil (Patty), Stan (Terry Harrell), Duane, Vince (Minette), Ed (Jenni Vollmer), daughters: Nancy Thornsley, Mary (Mike) Obergfell.

19 Grandchildren: Clint (Megan) Rorick, Jenna (Cale) Royer, Connor Rorick, Claire (Kaleb) Hartman, Vincent Rorick, Elise (Stephen) Risk, Ben Rorick, Keri-Grace Rorick, Corey Thornsley, Jill (Greg) Crabill, Brandon Thornsley, Jera Sallier, Liz (Mike) Flaherty, Dan Obergfell (Cassie Richardson), Julia (Austin) Lebamoff, Jack (Brenna Witek) Obergfell, Gina Obergfell, Caroline Obergfell, Peter (Fiancé Maryellen Tippman) Obergfell. 20 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.

Also preceding her in death were her son Keith, daughter Evelyn, great granddaughters Aurora Lebamoff and Unity Grace Crabill, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd. Ft. Wayne. Calling will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm with a Rosary at 3:30 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home,3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to: Queen of Angels Catholic School or Masses. In addition, please consider spending time in the Perpetual Adoration chapel in her memory.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Anne Communities for the loving care that they provided Maxine in her final months.
