Melissa A. Wiehe, 65, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 19, 2025.

She was born on July 11, 1959 in Fort Wayne to the late Serbando and Fernetta (Sackinger) Barrientos.

Melissa was a 1977 graduate of New Haven High School.

On March 28, 1980, she married the love of her life, Gregory Wiehe at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven. Together with Greg they raised two children, Amanda and Blake.

Melissa had worked as the Guidance Secretary for Bishop Dwenger High School, before becoming a loving Nana to her grandchildren.

She was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church.

In her free time, Melissa enjoyed scrapbooking and reading; but following the birth of her first grandchild, she found her true passion, loving on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory; children, Amanda (David) Godwin and Blake (Courtney Benak) Wiehe; grandchildren, Zoey, Rosslyn, Layla, Kaleb, Quentin, Xander, and Zoey; and siblings, Michael (Shirley) Barrientos and Ryan (Anita) Barrientos.

Also preceding her in death were siblings, Robin (Bruce), Christopher, and Marc.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne with the recitation of the Most Holy Rosay at 2 p.m. Burial will follow Mass at Concordia Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice or Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center.
