It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael D. Gibson, who left us peacefully on July 14, 2026. He was born on May 20, 1942, in Olinger, VA, to Rowland Edward and Mary Ruth (Olinger) Gibson. He was formerly of Pennville, IN before making Fort Wayne his home. He married Carol Gibson and started his family and lived a remarkable life that touched many. He spent his career as a Certified Public Accountant, dedicating many years of service to the State of Michigan and other companies. He graduated from Indianan Tech University in Fort Wayne.

Mike loved “The Good Lord” and was a kind, generous, and gentle man. He loved to dance and continued to do so until his fatal fall. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lincolnshire Place and Eleos Hospice, for the exceptional care given to Mike.

Mike is survived by his loving companion; Judith Estabrook Shepard, who took care of him and enjoyed their time together; his sons, Christopher and Eric (Christy) Gibson; siblings, Janet Kauffman and John Gibson, as well as a cousin, Mark Sherrin.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, who died on April 18, 2012, his parents, and a brother Rowland Gibson.

In keeping with his wishes, Mike will have a private burial at the Catholic Cemetery located on 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN.
