Obituary

Michael E. Millikan, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday September 23, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital. He was born in Fort Wayne on November 21, 1941, the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Dwight) Millikan. A graduate of South Side High School with the Class of '60, he went on to serve in the US Air Force Reserves from 1963-1969 and later earned his degree from Purdue University. On May 1, 1965, Michael married Mary Jane (Bradley) Millikan, who preceded him in death on August 23, 2017 after 52 years of marriage. Michael was a foreman in the Machine Division at International Harvester; he then served the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend as the Development Director for Bishop Luers and Bishop Dwenger High Schools; he later founded and was the owner of Tri-R Services, from where he retired. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a former board member of Turnstone Center for Children and Adults. He enjoyed their summer home at Clear Lake and was an avid sports fan, particularly Purdue and Notre Dame, but his biggest joy in life was his family and especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Michael is survived by his children; Michael P. Millikan, Kelli Ann (Greg) Lee, Janeann Perkins, and Ann Marie (Ben) Hall, all of Fort Wayne, and Sara Ann (Eric) Grant of Tallahassee FL; 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane; his brother, Richard Millikan Jr.; and his infant granddaughter, Annie L. Perkins. Mass of Christian Resurrection 11:00 Monday October 2, 2023, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 S. Fairfield Ave. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation is also from 1-5pm on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Private burial in Catholic Cemetery.
