Mina Carolyn Merriweather, age 72, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Celebrate Senior Living. Born on September 7, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Dorris William and Ruby (Sowell) Merriweather. Raised in Fort Wayne, Mina was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1970. She played the saxophone and participated in band while at Central. Mina worked as a Nursing Assistant for over 40 years. When not working, she enjoyed reading, as she was an avid reader. She loved going to the movies and spending time with friends, often catching up over lunch. Mina also was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and loved to listen to his music. She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Marcus (Monique Childs) Merriweather; sisters, Regina Merriweather and Datrich Pratt; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of cousins; her best friend, Brenda (Jerome) Davis Lewis; members of the Lee family; and members of the Shears family. Mina was preceded in death by her parents; her brother DW Merriweather Jr.; and her favorite cousin, Cheryl Hughes.
