Mirta Isabel Catalan 53 passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning December 27, 2023. Surviving family members include; Mother Maria Catalan, 3 sons, Derrick Catalan, Petty Officer Dustin Catalan & Lorenzo Catalan all of Fort Wayne. 4 grandchildren, Yanessa, Derrick Jr, Kyrie & Kylaia Catalan all of Fort Wayne. Brother Nelson (Jennifer) Catalan of Indianapolis, twin sister Angela Ruiz of New Haven, sister Elena (Mark) Atwood of Fort Wayne. A host of nieces and nephews. Special friend/ sister Kris (Jim) Sayler. Mirta was preceded in death by her brother Andrew J Catalan in 2021.Mirta was born in Chile South America and raised in Fort Wayne Indiana. She was a graduate of Elmhurst High School class of 1990. Mirta worked for Target for 21 years, she also worked at Dollar General, Save-A-Lot and most recently Goodwill. Mirta had a very strong faith that guided her through life's journeys, she Loved the Lord, she loved singing, crocheting, baking/cooking for her family and friends. She loved her family. Mirta had a contagious smile and a strong passion for kindness that was felt from all who crossed her path. She will be profoundly missed. Services will be held at Headwaters Church (The Chapel) 2000 N Wells St, Fort Wayne, January 6, 2024 at Noon with public viewing 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with Pastor Mitchell Griffin officiating. Burial will be Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Lindenwood Cemetery.
