Nancy “Nan” Alter, age 67, of Leo, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at home. Born on January 18, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lucile (Reinking) Bunt. On April 28, 1984, Nan married the love of her life, Jon Alter. They had 42 wonderful years together, building their life and watching their family grow. Nan was a dedicated homemaker, raising four children and caring for her extended family. She was a wonderful cook, and she loved to make memorable family meals. Nan also enjoyed cane pole fishing in her free time.

For Nan, her family always came first and was the most important aspect of her life. She loved being a grandma and spending quality time with her grandkids. Nan will be remembered fondly as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jon Alter; children, Joshua (Jacki) Alter, Cassandra (Joe) Reichard, Krista (John) Forsythe, and Robert (Jade) Alter; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Jane McGraw, Vicki (Jim) Lauer, and Kathren Bunt; and brother, Ben Bunt. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Patricia Bunt.

A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
