Octavio Godinez

Octavio C. Godinez, 75 died peacefully at his home on March 9, 2020, surrounded by loving family. The way he passed is just how he lived: he wrote his own rules, fought and exuded strength and paved his own way when he was ready. He was a pillar of strength and all who spent time with Octavio share wonderful memories filled with much laughter, interesting conversation, strong drinks, and amazing food with killer hangovers. He is now reunited with his son, Octavio J. Godinez, Gracia Castaneda Godinez(mother), Mariano Godinez(father), Rodolfo & Javier Godinez (brothers). Octavio is survived by his wife Irma Y. Godinez, who shared 48 years of marriage based on mutual support and deep love for each other. His legacy continues with his surviving children, Lucila Godinez, Elizabeth Godinez and Diana (Derek) Acosta of Fort Wayne, IN and his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 4-7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00a at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave with calling one-hour prior. Celebration of life will follow services. "Those we love don't go away, they walk besides us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved and still missed and very dear". Remembering and celebrating you on this day and comforted by the wonderful memories we will always hold near.
