Patricia L. “Pat” (Lane) Murphy, 87, of Fort Wayne, was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Pat was born on December 9, 1938 at the Wells Community Hospital in Bluffton, the daughter of the late Henry W. and Louise (Yates) Lane. In 1940, her family moved to Fort Wayne. Pat was a big sister to her brother, Charles W. Lane, and she lived her life being led by her Lord. She was always ready to listen to others and help whenever needed. Her family was very important to her, and she always showed her pride and love for them. Pat worked at St. Joe UMC Preschool, FWCS, Indiana State Police, Trinity English Lutheran Church, Klaehn, Fahl & Melton, Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes, Tara Cooperative, and then for FWPD as their crossing guard coordinator until she retired at age 85. She was a Past-Matron of the Eastern Star, Past-President of the Methodist Women’s Society, Sunday School teacher, Northrup Music Parents, a member of the 1957 Girls Club of North Side High School, and member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Pat is survived by her children; daughters, Cheryl Wilson and Linda York, both of Fort Wayne, and Kay (Ken) Folks of Indianapolis; son, Scott Murphy of Rome City; grandchildren, Jodi Brumbaugh, Emily (Nate) Metzger, Stephanie Wilson, Jennifer Glover, Ashley (Adam) Dirig and Brittany York, all of Fort Wayne, Jeremy (Mike Horan) Brumbaugh of Elmira NY, Nathan Folks of Palmer AK, Eric (Marie) Folks of Newington CT, Michael (Amber) Murphy of Rome City, and Natalie Maher of Pleasant Lake; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Brian, Levi, Ruby, Diamond, Kylan, CJ, Ella, Rhett, Austin, Preston, Aela, and Anakin. Also surviving are her nieces & nephew, Michelle (Dennis) Turkette, Connie (Mark) Burns, and Charles (Heather) Lane, Jr., all of Fort Wayne.
In addition to her parents, Pat was also preceded in death by her husband, Max Murphy; son-in-law, Scott Wilson; brother, Chuck Lane, and adopted brother, Sam Schoepke.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00pm Tuesday October 6, 2026 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with visitation from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family’s preferred memorial is Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 W. California Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46818.
