Paul Martin Braun, 87, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday August 27, 2025. Paul was born in Decatur on January 4, 1938, the son of the late Martin and Margaret (Kriegel) Braun. He graduated from Decatur Catholic High School with the Class of '56 and went on to serve his country proudly in the US Army. On October 26, 1963, Paul married Frances (Palisieski) Braun, who survives along with their daughters, Julie Braun, Michele (Christopher) Koop and Jenifer (Timothy) Piekarski, all of Fort Wayne; brothers, Robert (Patricia) Braun and Roger Braun, both of Decatur; sister-in-law, Carolyn Braun of Hudson MI; brother-in-law, Edward Holmes of Palm Coast FL, numerous nieces & nephews, and his "adopted" daughters, Laura, Kathleen and Cynthia.
In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by sisters, Marcyle (Robert) Gibson and Honora Custer; brothers, Arthur (Joan) Braun, Eugene (Virginia) Braun, Richard (Anne) Braun and Floyd "Sonny" Braun, and sister-in-law, Elnora Braun.
Paul retired from Dana Corp. in 1999 after 38 years with the company. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and was devout in his faith; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered as a Care Van driver for the St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 20 years. Paul was also a member of the American Legion Post 499 and he was an avid fan of Notre Dame athletics, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday September 4, 2025 in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation also on Wednesday from 4-8pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 3:30pm. Paul will be laid to rest in Catholic Cemetery with military honors. The family's preferred memorials are Masses at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, or Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana, online at www.hfnei.org or my mail to P.O.
