Obituary

Paul John Gannon, age 83, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at home, surrounded by family.  Born on August 20, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Frisch) Gannon.  Paul was raised in Robertsdale, PA, and was a graduate of Shippensburg University.  He moved to Muncie, IN after accepting a teaching position there.  While in Muncie, Paul met the love of his life, Theresa (Cleary). They married on April 16, 1966, and spent 59 years building their life together and watching their family grow.  Paul worked in IT for most of his career and retired from Parkview Hospital in 2011.

When not working, he enjoyed golf, watching Notre Dame football, and cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears.  Family came first for Paul, and he was a wonderful father and grandfather.  He looked forward to family vacations and spending time with the ones he loved the most. Devout in his beliefs, Paul was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and remained active in the church for over 50 years.  He especially loved serving in the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Therese.  Along with Theresa, Paul also delivered Homebound Meals for 10 years, serving those in need.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Theresa Gannon; children, John (Denise) Gannon, William (Sara) Gannon, Thomas (Rebecca) Gannon, Kathleen (Kevin Wise) Gannon, Julie (Shane) Psurny, Maureen (Antoine) von Dobenik, Joseph (Lauren Fahl) Gannon, and Brian (Alyia) Gannon; 16 grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Bob) Courtney, Carol Hagans, Michael (Nancy) Gannon, Annette Benson, and Jack (Maria) Gannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Nicol; infant sister, Colleen Gannon; and grandson, Christian Joseph von Dobenik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior.  Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne with a Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m.  Memorials can be written to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Therese Catholic Church.  Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
