It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paula J. Knepper-Wert, who left us on March 30, 2026, at the age of 76. Paula was born on January 12, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Forrest Paul and Grace O’June (Herring) Knepper, and spent her later years in the cozy town of Kendallville, Indiana. Known for her vibrant spirit and artistic soul, Paula made a name for herself as an artist in residence specializing in photography. Paula had a love for all animals, but especially her cherished four-legged kids.

Paula was cherished by many, including her loving husband, John R. Wert, and her wonderful sisters; Rebecca (Stephen) Arnold and Lynda (David) Arnold, as well as several nieces and nephews. She had an infectious passion for life and a unique ability to capture moments through her lens, leaving a legacy through her art that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Grace Knepper, and a sister, Judith Caress.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4:00pm & 5-8:00pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN. There will be a funeral service held at 11:00am, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the funeral home with an hour prior visitation. Burial will follow the service at Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children.
