Obituary

Pedro "Pete" Garcia, Jr., 65, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Pete was born on March 16,1958, in El Paso, TX, the son of (the late) Pedro H. Garcia, Sr. and Maria del Rayo ("Rayito") Garcia. He served his country proudly and faithfully in the US Air Force and the Indiana Air National Guard from 1980-2014. Pete specialized in his field as an aircraft/jet electrician until his retirement as a Master Sergeant. After retirement, he continued to assist on military contracts at Little Rock AFB, Little Rock, AR and Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, NM.

Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all. He loved shopping with his daughter, Monica and granddaughter, Madeline. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling around the world, and loved connecting family where ever he travelled. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson with his beloved dog, Bella and working on his 1954 Chevy Bel Air.

Pete is survived by Gloria Garcia, his wife of 46 years, and their daughter, Monica Anjelica Garcia (Tim) Clark of Roanoke; granddaughter, Madeline Adriana Plascencia of Roanoke; sisters, Connie Mehra, Cecilia (Joel) Tyler and Christina Moreno, all in Texas, and Carolina (Jason) Morgan of Fort Wayne; brothers, Luis (Teresa) Garcia and Armando (Lucy) Garcia, both of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Ana Garcia of Allendale MI; brother-in-law, Bacilio Garcia, Jr. (Lila) of Fort Wayne; and sisters-in-law, Irene Rodriguez and Amelia (Eddie) Deleon, both of Fort Wayne. In addition to his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by a brother, Hector Garcia and a brother-in-law, Marcus Moreno.

Visitation is Monday, November 27, 2023, from 9:00-10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 518 W. DeWald St., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will be at 1:00pm Monday in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, IN, with military honors. Memorials and donations may be directed to Pete's family.
