May 21, 1929 – June 9, 2025
Phyllis A. Morken, age 96, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at home. Born May 21, 1929, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Seculoff. Phyllis graduated from Central Catholic High School class of 1947. She received her nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1950, becoming a Registered Nurse. Phyllis, along with her fellow nurses, founded the volunteer organization Nurses Concerned for Life (NCFL) which operated from 1973 until 2005. This organization laid the foundation for the Women's Care Center in Fort Wayne.
In 1951, she married Robert Morken and they were together for 69 years until Robert's passing in 2020. After she married, Phyllis became a full-time homemaker, caring for her eleven children. Faith was important to Phyllis, and she was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and of the Rosary Society.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Ralph) Froehlich, Mary Ann (Scott) Waikel, Michel Morken, Joseph Morken, Julianne (Bernie) McCormick, Rosemary (Doug) Beadie, Anna (Dan) Mullin, Chris (Jeni) Morken, Lisa (Gregg) Grahovac, and Sara Markley; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Florence Seculoff and Sr. M. Helene Seculoff O.S.F.; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband; son, James Morken; her parents; brothers, David Seculoff, Thomas Seculoff, and Rev. James Seculoff; and infant sister, Sylvia Seculoff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46808. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow the service at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be written to the Women's Care Center (www.womenscarecenter.org) in Phyllis' name. Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
