Phyllis A. Weingartner, age 94, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025.  Born on April 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marcella (Steiger) Schnelker.  On October 17, 1953, Phyllis married Joseph E. Weingartner.   They spent the next 42 years building their life together until Joseph's passing in 1996.  Phyllis worked as the office manager at Ellison Bakery for 30 years until her retirement in 1993.  When not working, she enjoyed spending summers at the lake with family and friends.  She loved books and was a voracious reader.  Above all, Phyllis loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.  She was a proud and loving grandmother to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Phyllis was a member of the Red Hat Society and was also a volunteer usher at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne.  Her faith was important to her, and she was a devout member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Edward (Becki) Weingartner, Art (Julie) Weingartner, Stephan (Kathleen Shook) Weingartner, Robert (Amy Stoner) Weingartner, and Judi (Fred) Orr; 14 grandchildren: Alyssa (Peter), Joe, Kevin, Kyle, Rachel (Mark), Cara (Isaac), Cooper, Pierce, Matthew, Jonathan, Amanda, Adam, Andrew and Aaron; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Richard) Brannon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter, Haley; her parents; sister, Dolores Marshall; and brother, Alan Schnelker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with visitation one hour prior.  Visitation will also be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a Rosary recited at 8:00 p.m.  Burial at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.  Memorials can be written to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Phyllis's name.  Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
