Obituary

Rachel L. Stuckey, 87, of Fort Wayne died June 5, 2018 at Kingston Care Center, surrounded by her family. Rachel was born June 22, 1930 in Fort Wayne to the late John and Josephine DiFilippo. Rachel retired from City Utilities of Fort Wayne after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Brendan's Catholic Church and choir of Clearwater Beach Florida, Island Estates Women's Club, Former Co-owner with her son Leo, of After Dark Nightclub, formerly Up the Street, and was a former bartender at O' Sullivans Italian Pub. Rachel was known for "Sing along with Katie and Rachel" for many years in the area. Rachel is survived by daughters, Frances M (Jeffery) Hale of Fort Wayne, IN, Kathleen A (Mark) Stieglitz of Louisville, KY; sons, John D (Melinda) Vodde and Leo B Vodde both of Fort Wayne, IN; step-daughter, Terrie J (Tim) Johnson of Sherwood, OH; grandchildren Christine M (Joel) Douglas, Kathleen A (Phillip) Stewart, Sheila M (Keith) Rawlins, Kelly R (Edward) Green, Andrew N (Cecelia Smith) Hale and Patrick R (Rachel Shuler) Hale; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; best friend of over 80 years, Catherine Vastano Smith. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C Stuckey, daughter, Linda K Schuman, brothers, Donald and Anthony DiFilippo, sister, Joanne Pitzen, sisters in law, Frances DiFilippo and Jeanine DiFilippo, brother in law, Tom Pitzen. The family wishes to give special thanks to Kingston Care Center and Heartland Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr, with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with a vigil at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary's Soup Kitchen.
