Rebecca "Becky"
A. Rowan
September 28, 1950 – December 20, 2025
Rebecca A. Rowan, 75, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, surrounded by her tied-for-favorite brothers.
A loyal sports fan, Becky rooted faithfully for Notre Dame , the Indiana Hoosiers , and thanks to a stint of time living near the Rockies (which she remembered fondly), the Denver Broncos. She was also known for her remarkable ability to remember details, dates, and life updates of the people she cared about, a skill that grew even stronger with the help of Facebook, which she used to stay connected when she couldn't visit everyone in person as easily.
She loved watching cooking and culinary shows, even though her own cooking skills were limited by both preference and necessity - most notably her inability to eat onions. Her signature dish, "Colorado Crispies ( an open-faced cheese-only quesadilla made in a toaster oven)," was enthusiastically loved by her nieces and nephew.
A very involved aunt, Aunt Becky shared countless special moments with her nieces and nephew. She took them on memorable day trips, fun overnight adventures, concerts, and sporting events, creating experiences that left lasting memories and a deep bond of love.
She was deeply proud of her Irish heritage and cherished a 2015 trip to visit the motherland with her nieces, an experience she spoke of with great joy and pride.
Another source of pride was her multi-decade career in business development for both Fort Wayne Occupational Health and Parkview, from where she retired in 2016.
In recent years, Becky relied heavily on a close network of friends who became her chosen family. She was deeply grateful for those who showed up for her, and she often expressed how much their care and presence meant to her. In return, her friends remember the way Becky showed up for them when she could by being thoughtful, attentive, kind and always remembering what mattered to them.
She will be remembered with love for her devotion to family and friends, her gratitude for those who walked alongside her, her loyalty to her sports teams, and the small, human details - remembered dates, shared meals, special outings, and well-loved traditions - that made people feel known and cared for.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph F. Rowan and JoAnna C. Rowan, and by her beloved infant son, Joshua. She is survived by her brothers, Chris (Louise) Rowan and David Rowan, both of Fort Wayne; and by her nieces and nephew: Molly Rowan of Chicago, Joe Rowan of Fort Wayne, and Karen Rowan of Chicago.
