Rex L.
Harris
June 1, 1945 – March 20, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rex L. Harris, who left unexpectedly on March 20, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on June 1, 1945, in Keystone, IN, to Mearl and Daisy (Muter) Harris. Rex was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose quick wit and warm spirit brought light and laughter to everyone lucky enough to know him.
He spent his career as a Certified Public Accountant and proud owner of Harris & Associates Inc., where his steady work ethic and genuine care for others earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Rex served in the US Air Force and US Army, was a proud member of the Indiana Freemasons for 50+ years and never met a single animal he didn’t love—or feed.
Rex had a passion for collecting classic cars and antique treasures, always drawn to things with a story to tell. To him, old things weren’t outdated—they were timeless, just like his humor and the memories he leaves behind.
His love for cars was only matched by his love for his wife. He often said the best drives were the ones they shared together, with a milkshake in hand and her right by his side.
He leaves behind a collection of memories more valuable than any antique car. Rex shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Elaine (Ahlers) Harris, who survives him. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Alicia (Kurt) Fitch, Christopher (Jordan) Harris, Erica (Tanner Redman) Harris, and Jessica (Christopher Stolz) Harris; grandchildren: Harrison Fitch, Elaina Fitch, Tripp Harris, Quinn Harris, and Penelope Stolz; brother: Dennis Harris.
To celebrate Rex’s life, a visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 3:00pm-5:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11am. Everyone who knows Rex is welcome to join us in honoring his memory and sharing stories of the joy he brought into our lives.
In honor of Rex, the family requests that you take a drive with the windows down – just as he always did
